through a trick of fate, I heard the St Etienne song before I got into Neil Young's solo work. They actually led me to him. CSNY helped, but they were the catalyst... (and seeing Dead Man cemented the deal)
johnny marr was my intro to neil young cos he freakin' LOVES him. i listened...and couldn't suss what the fuss was all about. his voice is reedy as all hell. like dylan, i usually prefer people's versions of his songs rather than his own.
